|||||||||||||
Founded in Turin in 1987 , Lo Scarabeo is internationally renowned as a tarot/art publisher, known for its high quality graphic illustration remit and for its careful research. Lo Scarabeo decks are emotive, suggestive and sometimes humourous, but also well researched and respectful of earlier tarot traditions and iconography. Lo Scarabeo's range has grown from this passion for graphic art, A whole collection of decks and books, created by well known contemporary illustrators and divination experts have been published. The largest proportion of this catalogue is made up from its tarot range but they have also recently branched into marketing other esoteric accessories such as runes, tarot reading cloths and tarot storage bags. They also publish an extensive range of themed and illustrated playing card decks. Whether developing modern interpretations, or researching and recovering earlier esoteric traditions, Lo Scarabeo employ the best illustrators to ensure their Tarots become works of art in card form. Furthermore, They are proud to send the label "made in Italy" all over the world. Lo Scarabeo is particularly admired for its emphasis on publishing facsimile reproductions of antique tarot decks. Among these are the exquisite tarot engraved by Carlo DellaRocca in 1835 (published as the Classic Tarot), a reproduction of the 1760 Nicholas Conver Tarot de Marseilles and a photo facsimile reproduction of a 97 card Minchiate Tarot first published in 1725. Equally, LS is well known for its lavish, gold and silver foil imprinted decks. Among the most popular are the Klimt Tarot, The Golden Tarot of Botticelli, The Golden Tarot of the Renaissance and the Visconti Tarot. The Quantum Tarot is Lo Scarabeo's first deck to employ UV spot varnishing; a process which highlights key areas of the satin finish cards with high gloss varnish. All Lo Scarabeo decks are published in five languages: Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. They are available worldwide through an extensive distribution network. In North America, they work in partnership with Llewellyn Worldwide. For further information, visit the Lo Scarabeo web site.
